Pick a Trim

The first thing to think about with your Chevy Silverado 1500 is the trim. There are eight to choose from, including:

• WT
• Custom
• LT
• RST
• Trail Boss
• LTZ
• High Country
• ZR2

Select the Power- and Drivetrain

Next, you’ll want to think about the engine. The base is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder that offers 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, and three others are available:

• Turbodiesel 3.0-liter, six-cylinder: 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque
• 5.3-liter V8: 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque
• 6.2-liter V8: 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque

You’ll also be able to choose between an eight-speed automatic transmission or a 10-speed automatic. And while rear-wheel drive is standard, four-wheel drive is an option. It should be noted that not all engines are available with all trims, so you should choose your trim level wisely.

Choose the Cab and Bed

The Chevy Silverado 1500 has three cab styles: Regular, Double, and Crew Cab. There are also three bed lengths: 5-foot-10-inches, 6-foot-7-inches, and 8-foot-2-inches.

Not all cabs can be matched with all beds, however. For example, the 5-foot-10-inch bed can only come with the Crew Cab, and the 8-foot-2-inch bed is only paired with the Regular cab.
